Stressful Life Events

Stressful Life Events

If you’ve had a stressful time or stressful life events happen it’s ok to rest. In fact, it’s crucial. If we haven’t already experienced a highly stressful life event the chances are we will at some stage.

Things like the death of a loved one, job loss, separation, moving house, imprisonment, major illness or injury, marriage, retirement, the death of a spouse, marriage reconciliation and new family members are the top 10 stressful life events. They are pretty common amongst my peers and I’ve certainly experienced my fair share.

When I was a teen I had a lot of stressful life events happen all around the same time. Afterward, I got very sick with glandular fever and was later diagnosed with chronic fatigue syndrome and depression.

I needed rest basically. But I didn’t do that. Instead, I tried to escape my life in unhealthy ways, which put even more pressure on my body.

When our body is tired it needs the rejuvenation and regeneration that rest gives it. I know first hand how difficult this can be when your mind is racing.

There are times when we get pushed beyond our limits to get things done, show up and push on and we need all the energy we can get to do that.

It’s hard to switch off that adrenaline and it can turn to anxiety if we don’t actively try to come out of our heads and into our bodies.

Resting can be hard. I have had to learn over 20 years worth of tools to do this. Some tools work for a while then stop, others never used to work and work now. How we rest and what works for us is individual.

The point is you need to actively do something to help yourself to rest. You need a toolbox of tricks.

And please don’t beat yourself up for having a self-indulgent rest. It is as important as all those other things on your to-do list.

For me resting and relaxing is always at the top of my list. I just can’t do everything I need to without burning out if I don’t. It is part of my ongoing mental health plan.

Sometimes rest might be doing some art, yoga or meditation or it might just be laying in bed watching shows and eating comforting foods. Or it may be EFT, journaling, singing, dancing or sitting in nature.

The point is that I can do whatever I feel and listen to what my body needs and honour that. If I don’t I will just go into a very old pattern of burnout, fatigue, anxiety, and depression.

It has taken years to not only be aware of this in myself but also develop the tools and skills to manage my energy.

Life is always going to do unexpected things and, if you are like me, you may do unexpected things to reach your goals. Because I don’t settle for a life that is not full of my dreams and in alignment with my soul.

Either way, there is always going to be something that is hard, stressful and draining on our energy. Finding a way to manage ourselves as a whole energetic being that is affecting our internal and external worlds is key to living a happy and fulfilled life.

These days I move through life moment to moment holding my highest vision for the future and aligning with that daily. I set intentions for my feelings, I connect with nature, stay creative and constantly tune into my inner world.

This is my life’s work. I am so aware that we are all individual and, different things work for different people. I know that the only way to discover that is going deep inside of ourselves and asking the question.

What do I want?
What do I need?
What is the next step?

I’d love you to answer those questions in the comments if you feel like connecting and sharing. And if you want to explore this further drop me a line ✌🏻

Flow with the ease of liquid

Flow with the ease of liquid

Having the best life and everything you want means constantly BEING the best version of yourself at that moment in time as best as you can manage with the information that you have. This is the path to being who you always wanted to be. With each moment in time, we have a choice to move forward toward that version of ourselves and all we desire. We can do this in spite of the past. And we can do this to spite our ego and our fear.

It is not an easy task though. Constantly having the awareness of where we are out of alignment with ourselves is tiring. It is an ongoing battle with our old negative internal dialogues too. The fear and ego telling us we are not good enough, we are a failure and we can’t do it.

When you do this work and when you are striving towards anything, remember it IS work. And it IS tiring, emotional and stressful. When you feel like giving up, it is your soul calling for a rest. We have breaks from 9-5 day jobs, we need breaks from the internal work we do as well. Nobody is perfect and it takes time to learn anything new. So allow yourself the break. Have a rest, pull your energy in and come home to yourself and snuggle your soul.

Celebrate how far you have come and how you are that much closer to who you were always wanting to be and having everything you desire. Acknowledge that you have been doing the work and have been present and honest with yourself. Congratulate your body and soul with self-love and nurturing. Ground yourself through creative activities, play, being in nature and with those who love you without judgment or conditions.

Be mindful that when you do have a rest, you are not giving up. This is not a race, it is a long journey and we all need pitstops. You are allowed to ebb and flow as your energy requires. You can be paused and still moving forward. In this pause is where you allow your soul to integrate all the learnings from this school of life. It does this subconsciously. You don’t need to try. Just allow and receive all the magic that you have worked so hard to create.

And what if you could change your mind? What if it wasn’t set in stone? What if you went with your current feeling and just kept doing that every moment. Allowing yourself to be ever-changing, flowing and moving with the ease of liquid through life? Intuitively and blissfully moving forward one step at a time.

I would love to chat to you more about this dance of moving forward slowly and steadily in an intuitive way that works for you.

Let me know in the comments how you know when it is time to slow down for you.

And if you’d like to work with me send me a message.

If there is one thing that I know you need less of, that is pressure. We put some much pressure on ourselves already. How nice is it to be held in the void, given permission to slow and acknowledgement of our efforts? This is what I do, I gently hold your hand and walk with you and tune into your natural energy flow. I help you to see where your path of least resistance is and where you can take a breather.

Use Your Body

Use Your Body

Are you in your mind and your head a lot? I used to be. And so much so that I could not get out. I was trapped in my own mind of swirling chaos. I was so trapped that it was nearly impossible to do physical tasks. I was told I had depression by experts. Get out and exercise they said. But one thing that led me to this depression was an injury. I used to be a runner and I had broken my ankle twice in 12 months. Exercise was not what it used to be. And in order for me to get to a point where I could do enjoyable and fun exercise I had to do loads of physio. Which I hated because it was so boring. Instead, I did yoga and at least I enjoyed that and it gave me a window of relaxation and time to connect with my body.

As I’ve recovered I’ve found so many ways that I can spend time with my body. This part of myself that is a tool to be used. And also looked after with regular self-love and self-care. The ways that I have found to access escape routes from my mind through my body are endless. I’m sure many of us do all sorts of things like art, exercise, dance, creating, making, gardening and other physical activities with our bodies that we enjoy. Sometimes the mind can trick you though. It will tell you that you don’t have time for that. There is too much to worry about and figure out.

The mind forgets though. It forgets the feeling states that we can achieve through physical activity. It forgets that the subconscious can take over while we are physically active. It will work it all out for us. Have you ever noticed how you feel so much more clarity and calm after doing a physical activity? That’s because your subconscious mind has stepped in while your overactive conscious mind is busy controlling your body. The thing that it is supposed to do.

A similar thing happens to our mind when we are on social media, watching television and other activities that don’t take much focussed concentration from the mind. Then you may notice that depression and anxiety steps in and we fall into that feeling of being trapped. Of not being able to find a way out. And unable to figure everything out. This is when you take action. Any action. Whatever task you can do with your body to distract the mind. Making it an enjoyable task is always more fun by the way.

And this is when we can access our intuition. The mind has stepped aside, the body is busy, the subconscious is figuring everything out for the mind and then this other place of magic appears. Our intuition, our higher selves, source, spirit, whatever you want to call it. It just shows up. We start to feel it. We feel bliss, we feel love, we feel the magic that is within us. Revel in that. Remember it and notice it. Write down, voice record, imprint what your intuition is telling you somehow. Paint it, draw it, make it, do it. Now you have a physical anchor for that magic. A reminder that by using your body you are accessing the infinite.

After all, we are here on earth, the playground of the soul and this is where we can reach our fullest potential. If you are stuck in your mind, see if there is something small to get you in your body. This is where the magic happens.

Do you have a belief that is holding you back?

Do you have a belief that is holding you back?

Do you have a belief that is holding you back?

Maybe it is the belief that if you change you will lose something or someone? Or maybe it is the belief that if you put yourself out there you will be hurt or ridiculed? Or maybe it’s the belief that if you make too much money you will become shallow and mean? I often help women uncover these subconscious beliefs. What is yours?

THIS IS NOT YOUR INTUITION TALKING!

Let’s release this! It might hurt… but feeling is healing. It is a necessary part of letting go and moving forward.

Here’s one of the ways you can release this yourself! And anyone can do this.

Journal on your past hurt that created this belief. Simply by doing this, you are allowing the release. Let it go through burning the pages you write it out on. Set your intention to release through the power of the fire. Then go into nature and give your pain to Mother Earth. Sit quietly and tell her all about it. She can take it.

LISTEN TO WHAT YOUR INTUITION SAYS.

Then go and get pampered by someone else. Self-care is super important after a release. Raise your vibe and feel good in your body! Or go and dance, have sex, get a massage, something that shifts energy in your body to release. This all adds power.

RAISING YOUR VIBE ALLOWS YOUR INTUITION IN

The topic to journal on is: I release the belief of…. I release the feelings of …… I release the behaviors…….. I release the experience of…… I release the patterns…….I release the pain of……..

Keep wiring on each of those until there is no more to write or until you need a break. This will take as long as it takes. You may need to pause and come back to it later. You may need to do it daily until you feel you are no longer carrying it with you. The new moon and full moon is a great time to release but you can do it anytime.

So what is your belief that is holding you back from how you want to feel, who you want to be and what you want to have?
